Fish on Ice

Today’s painting is of more fish from the market. This is an 8" x 8" panel from a photo by Herb Collingridge IV on FreeImages.com.

More than some others I’ve painted recently, this subject really seemed to lend itself to knife painting. Particularly with the stark white background of the chipped ice. The knife work seems to bring those large expanses of white to life.

It’s not quite done yet. I had to interrupt work to go donate blood. But tomorrow, I’ll try to wrap up this one and a couple others I started last week.

If anyone knows what kind of fish this is, I’d love to hear from you.
