First Painting of 2017!
Now that I've completed the first draft of my new site, I was able to finally get back into the studio today. What a relief… What a pleasure.
Today's painting is a swallowtail butterfly on a flower. I'm not sure that I'll call it 100% finished—some of the colors are a little muddy from trying to work the detail of the yellows adjacent to the rich blacks. So I may touch it up a bit after it dries to add some purer color.
But OH... It was good to be back at the easel (even despite the cold in my unheated studio).
