Portrait of the Artist

I haven’t done a portrait in a long time, and the mood caught me. 

This painting is of a dear friend and fellow artist. Her striking presence and brilliant red hair in this photo was irresistible to me and I had to try to capture it. It’s a rough and quick beginning, but I hope to do it justice.

The background is an interpretation of one of her paintings.
