Small, Fast, and Out of Control

I started two new small 5" x 5" panels today.

My intent had been to do the Beetle on Daisy painting in one sitting. The bright yellow of the daisy really appealed to me. But I found painting wet into wet in the yellows was causing the colors to muddy too much.

So I decided that, rather than push on and frustrate myself, I would just put it aside to dry so I could work the colors and detail on a later date. Given the size of the painting, it was going to be hard enough without colors running together.

So I used the end of the session to get a start on another panel I’d prepped earlier. A sweet faced cow that I just found irresistible as a subject.

With any luck, I’ll post these both as completed by the end of the week.
